The Music Mix is an institution in Hamilton attracting over three thousand people annually. Each year focuses on a different part of the world (Latin America, Japan, and African were the most recent) and has been embraced by the community as an opportunity to gain an appreciation and respect for other cultures, hopefully improving social acceptance and understanding throughout the world. The Music Mix is an exotic day filled with live music: world, jazz, blues, country, folk, bluegrass, zydeco, Celtic, and big band, along with the Young Musicians’ Showcase, a youth talent show. To enhance the music there is the Hamilton Food Court, Farmer’s Market and the Kid’s Crafts Tent featuring family entertainment and activities geared toward the selected world country. Music provides a common “voice” and the Music Mix provides the “stage to connect with others and sing with pride.”
